Cygnus Necklace in Ebonized Walnut and Sterling Silver

$160.00

A constellation of sterling stars shine in this ebonized walnut pendant.

The wood is walnut that has been ebonized, buffed by hand with beeswax and pure mineral oil, and set into a serrated sterling silver bezel. The stars are silver wire, set like rivets into the dark wood. The walnut shows off the silver stars beautifully, and shows a nice grain. Occasionally wiping the wood with mineral oil will keep it strong and beautiful.

The pendant is roughly triangular, and a bit over 3 cm across. It hangs from a sterling silver chain, adjustable from 16 to 18 inches long, and finished with my custom sterling clasp. With the exception of the stars, all silver has been oxidized and brushed for antiqued finish.

Cygnus is a northern constellation lying on the plane of the Milky Way, deriving its name from the Latinized Greek word for swan. Cygnus is one of the most recognizable constellations of the northern summer and autumn, and it features a prominent asterism known as the Northern Cross
