There is a fellow up the shore from us who used to make lovely cabochons from Lake Superior agates. On a visit last year, I couldn't resist picking out a few of these pretty, translucent gems to share with you. Sadly, his shop has closed, so I only have a couple of these beautiful large cabs left.

This stone has lovely rusty red and cream colored striping. It's about 1.5 inches, or just under 4 cm long. I set it into a custom sterling, and fine silver setting, with an open back to let the light shine through. It hangs from small sterling rings, on sterling rolo chain, and my custom sterling clasp. The chain is adjustable from 18 to 20 inches long.

This piece has a bit of an antique feel, like a modern version of a cameo necklace. It will bring a touch of elegance to anything you wear it with.
